Sleepy Time! ZZZZzzzzz......

When you share a room with someone in college that you don't know there's a lot of different habits that will probably clash; in my case it was my sleeping schedule. My roommate for the past month hasn't really been to considerate about my sleeping schedule and that bothered me a lot because I wasn't getting my necessary amount of sleep that I needed.

Here's my scientific theory:

Observation: I have not been getting my 8 hours of sleep every night because my roommate continues to keep the light on and isn't realizing the effect it has on my sleeping ability.
Hypothesis: She will continue to keep the light on and I will continue to not get sleep, be interrupted when I am sleeping, fall asleep in class, and nap during the day to make up for causing me to not do homework.
Methods: 1.) Complain to Mom about not being able to sleep. 2.) Complain to Jesse about not being able to sleep. 3.) Complain to my RA about not being able to sleep. 4.) Complain to dad about not being able to sleep.
Final Hope: I sat down and told her my problem and we compromised. Lights will be out in my room 11pm Sunday-Thursday night.
Conclusion: If you have an issue with your roommate talk to them. It's easier than I thought.

Sometimes I get way too bored....

I don't know if anyone remembers the things on Facebook where you'd either post a status and tag people in it so they'd have to answer the questions you did or if it was in a message form. Well either way I was on Facebook and I found one so, I thought it would be interesting to do it!

For Jesse

Jesse is wonderful. I miss him like crazy. He always cheers me up when I'm sad or in a bad mood. He's the best. Our first date was getting hot chocolate at Starbucks. It was simple and cute. Just the way I like things. He knows me best and I love him most. This is our song.

THE Laundry Battle of the CENTURY

The first time I did in college I had a battle every single time I tried to accomplish my goal. I'll explain what I mean.

I wanted to do one load of towels, not two, just ONE! So I live on the 3rd floor and the laundry room is in the basement. I took my towels in a laundry bag and went down my 3 flights of stairs to put my load in. I paid 75 cents and I went upstairs. The timer on the washer said 42 minutes so, I came down after 42 minutes. It said it still had 10 minutes left. I thought, okay I'll just go back upstairs and come down in 10 minutes. Did that. The washers said it still had 5 minutes left. I went back upstairs and came down after 5 minutes. It said 1 minute on it so I waited. Then I put my towels in the dryer for 45 minutes. I came back down after 45 minutes and what do you know, IT'S NOT DONE! Now, who would've guessed that? Me. My towels were still damp. I put more quarters in for another drying cycle except I added more time to the dryer above mine instead of mine. Luckily that person came downstairs to get their laundry and gave me a quarter because she felt bad for me. Pity worked in my favor. I put it one another cycle and came down when it was done. Still damp. I put it on for 2 more cycles and prayed that the laundry would be done! Finally I came down and my towels were done. I folded them and put them away. It was a battle. Let me present some math here:

Times going up & down stairs = over 10 times
Money spend = Almost $3
Time spent = 4-5 hours

This was all of ONE LOAD of towels! I was the worst battle I've ever fought, and I didn't even win. The stupid washer and dryer teamed up and beat me :(

What do I miss about home?

1) I miss my sister. Neither of us like to admit it but when it comes down to it we always have each other to rely on when things get tough. It was a hard goodbye the day I left for Utah.

2) I miss my mom. My mom is my best friend. Now that I'm away at college I talk to my mom for hours on the phone sometimes. We text too. It's weird but I have conversations with my mom besides ones like "what else do you need shipped to you for college?"

3) I miss my dad. I won't get to see him over Christmas break because I he's leaving for Pakistan to visit his family back home and he leaves before I do and comes back after me so I basically won't see him for a year.

4) I miss my aunt and uncle. I know it kills them that I'm gone because they don't have kids of their own so, I'm basically it for them.

5) I miss my dog. Dogs have a way of cheering you up when you're sad and it's not the same with humans. The bond a person has with their dog can't be put into words because it's just that special.

6) I miss my friends. I have friends here but it's not the same because they don't know you as well and you can't go hug them when something is wrong because you don't know them well enough for that yet.

7) I miss my Jesse. He's away at college and we're doing the long distance thing but nothing beats a hug and a kiss from your boyfriend. He's in Colorado which is just a state over but at the same time I don't get to see him until Christmas with everyone else.

8) I miss my house. I have my own room at home. Sharing a room is tough for me because my roommate doesn't exactly comply with my sleeping needs because she stays up later. She's kind of bugging me for other reasons to but I'll save that for another post maybe. I miss my hometown. I miss my car. I miss knowing where everything is in my city. Here I don't. I'm looking forward to Christmas break so bad!

9) I miss my mom making dinner. I feel sick when I eat food from the dining hall because nothing is healthy. It was nice for first week but now I'm sick of the food.

10) I just want to go home for Christmas. I have a countdown. 74 days!

Brigham Young University

If you don't have any knowledge about Brigham Young University then I will inform you!

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the church that is affiliated with the university. So when is LDS that means their Mormon. Mormon is what most people call members of our church but the technical term would be LDS (Latter Day Saint.) The main thing with going to a church school is that you're required to take religion classes. I don't think it's that big of deal like people make it out to be though. If you go to a Catholic college then you still take religion classes there too.

Anyways here the background, Brigham Young University was named after the Prophet Brigham Young who was very concerned about education. Now some of you might be scratching your heads thinking Brigham Young isn't in the Bible, how is he a prophet? Well, here's why. Brigham Young was a latter day prophet meaning that he will not exist in the Bible because he is a prophet of the latter days. A key part of the LDS religion is that we have a living prophet who gives us modern day revelation from God, and Brigham Young was our 2nd prophet.

There are 3 campuses for BYU: Provo, Utah; Rexburg, Idaho; and Hawaii. I go to the one in Provo, Utah which is the oldest campus. The biggest difference in all of these campuses vs. other colleges is you're surrounded by Mormons 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 2% of our school isn't LDS though but they have to abide by the honors code which basically means there's a list of standards that are based around Mormon doctrine that everyone has to follow. Again, not a big deal but people make it into a big deal sometimes.
