If you don't have any knowledge about Brigham Young University then I will inform you!
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the church that is affiliated with the university. So when is LDS that means their Mormon. Mormon is what most people call members of our church but the technical term would be LDS (Latter Day Saint.) The main thing with going to a church school is that you're required to take religion classes. I don't think it's that big of deal like people make it out to be though. If you go to a Catholic college then you still take religion classes there too.
Anyways here the background, Brigham Young University was named after the Prophet Brigham Young who was very concerned about education. Now some of you might be scratching your heads thinking Brigham Young isn't in the Bible, how is he a prophet? Well, here's why. Brigham Young was a latter day prophet meaning that he will not exist in the Bible because he is a prophet of the latter days. A key part of the LDS religion is that we have a living prophet who gives us modern day revelation from God, and Brigham Young was our 2nd prophet.
There are 3 campuses for BYU: Provo, Utah; Rexburg, Idaho; and Hawaii. I go to the one in Provo, Utah which is the oldest campus. The biggest difference in all of these campuses vs. other colleges is you're surrounded by Mormons 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 2% of our school isn't LDS though but they have to abide by the honors code which basically means there's a list of standards that are based around Mormon doctrine that everyone has to follow. Again, not a big deal but people make it into a big deal sometimes.
